David Edward Brannen
David Edward Brannen, 57, of Kirkwood, NY, formerly of Deposit,
died unexpectedly January 8, 2012 at his home.
He is survived by his father: Edward Brannen; by a sister and
her husband: Patricia and David Lyon; two brothers: Barry Brannen and Michael Brannen; three nieces and a nephew: Jessica
Decker, Rachel Brannen, Aubrey Lyon and Michael Lyon; four aunts and three uncles.
David was a 1973 Deposit Central High School graduate. He worked
for Universal Instruments and then for Felchar Manufacturing in Kirkwood for the past 20 years. He was an avid sports fan
and loved the Yankees and NY Giants.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14 at the Zacharias
Funeral Home, 78 Second St. in Deposit with Rev. Dan Eddings officiating. Burial will be in the Sanford Cemetery in Margaretville,
NY at the convenience of the family. Calling hours were at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m.
Betteye J. Dibble
Betteye J. Dibble, 88 of Bainbridge died unexpectedly on Thursday
evening February 2, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland E. Dibble, Sr.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Ron and
Lois Dibble, Richard and Gloria Dibble, both of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters and brothers-in-law:
Doris and Cardell Birkett, FL, Florence and Robert Folensbee, Unadilla; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Peggy Carr,
GA; and also several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Union Valley United Methodist Church, Bainbridge and the United
Methodist Women.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in W. Bainbridge Cemetery.

Sharon Marie Jordan
Sharon Marie (Thompson) Jordan, 56, of Franklin Hill, PA passed
away, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side. Born October 6, 1955 in Sidney, NY, she was
the daughter of Alice M. (Perry) Thompson and the late George H. Thompson.
She was employed as a receptionist at the Johnson City Veterinarian
Hospital.
Sharon was a member of the Franklin Hill Presbyterian Church
and the Susquehanna County Animal Rescue Team.
The family would like to thank Aseracare Hospice, Suzanne,
Betty and Cindy for their love and compassion shown to Sharon during her illness.

R. Scott "Zeb" Karcher
R. Scott "Zeb" Karcher, 47, of Sherman, passed away peacefully
into Heaven, at home on January 21, 2012, with his wife by his side, after an extended illness.
Zeb had a unique and spontaneous personality and sense of humor,
and always tried to make everyone laugh. He was an avid guitarist and loved playing his guitars, drums, keyboards and listening
to music, especially Jimi Hendrix and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was a creative artist, drawing his "own" cartoons and writing poems.
He enjoyed talking on his CBs to his airwave buddies and listening to his shortwave and ham radios, communicating around the
world. He liked tinkering with his electronics and creating different kinds of projects. He was a kung-fu enthusiast, practicing
his moves and enjoyed watching Jackie Chan movies.
He also was a carpenter and built his home, together with his
wife in Sherman. He worked at West Branch Angler fishing resort as a breakfast cook for the past six years, working alongside
with his wife. They were always together and he will be greatly missed. He impacted the lives of many friends and family,
always making people laugh and smile. He was a very special person and had a great spirit and gentle soul. He was a true believer
of the afterlife, saying that we would know when he was with us.
Zeb is survived by his wife of 23 years: Mary J. Karcher, Sherman;
his parents: Priscilla and Richard H. Karcher, Hancock; sister: Bethany and Dave Robinson, Hancock; nephew: CJ Karcher, and
fiancée Crystal Kosier, Stamford; niece: Abigail Robinson and friend Alex Shaver, Hancock; cousin: Dotty and Ed Corbett, Hancock;

Maude Gertrude Bush Lewis
Maude Lewis, age 73, of 412 Lumber Road, Deposit, NY died on
Saturday, January 21, 2012.
She is survived by her six children, Robert Lewis of Binghamton,
Kellee Bosket of Deposit, Elizabeth Protheroe of Ellenville, Lori Strasnick of Ormond Beach, FL, Shelly Lewis of Starlight,
PA, George Lewis of Lakewood, PA. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, John Bush of Grass Valley, CA, Douglas
Bush of Oneonta, Mitchell Bush of Deposit, Annette Figary of Edgewater, FL, Lucinda Katen of McClure, along with many nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Maude enjoyed her ten grandchildren, Christopher Bosket of Fredericksburg, VA, Amanda
Swartz of Ellenville, Cassandra Lindholm of New Berlin, Wendy Lewis of Binghamton, Ross Protheroe of Hartford, AL, Joel Lewis
of Ogdensburg, Jason Lewis of Starlight, PA, Kimberly Bosket of Oneonta, Britney and Brandon Lewis of Binghamton. Maude was
very excited for her six great-grandchildren, MJ, Alyssa, Tristan, Rayna, Skot, and Logan.
She worked at Walton Hospital as a LPN and later worked for
Bard Parker for many years. She moved to Daytona Beach, FL in 1990 where she was very active in her church and with friends.
Maude returned to Deposit in June 2011.
A memorial service was held at the Methodist Church on January
23. If anyone would like to make a donation the family would appreciate it to be sent to Maude’s home church in her
honor at Community United Methodist Church 616 Harvey Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118.
Dr. David L. Palmerton
Dr. David L. Palmerton, a Cheektowaga physician and father
of eight, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Brothers of Mercy nursing home, Clarence, after a long illness. He was 84.
Born in Binghamton, he graduated from Geneva High School, earned
a bachelor's degree from Hobart College and a medical degree from the University of Buffalo. He served in the Army in 1946-47.
For 44 years, he served as a family physician in private practice,
with an office on Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. He also was the physician for Clarence High School in the 1960s and '70s. He
retired in 2003.
He and his family lived in Buffalo, FL and Cheektowaga before
living in Clarence for 33 years. In 1992, he moved to Lancaster.
Dr. Palmerton was a past president of the Clarence Rotary Club
and a longtime member of Transit Valley Country Club. As a snowbird who spend half the year in Broward County, FL, he worked
as a patient advocate and county ombudsman there. He also served as a diplomate with the American Academy of Family Practice.
He enjoyed golf and tennis.
Surviving are his wife: Judyth Agnew Palmerton; a daughter:
Amy Stein; seven sons: David Jr., Douglas, Daniel, Christopher, Todd, Stephen and Jonathan; and a sister: Sarah Palmerton.
Dr. Palmerton was the son of Roswell Palmerton and Helen Ludlow
Palmerton, originally from Deposit and the grandson of Dr. R. K. Palmerton, a long time physician of Cannonsville and Deposit,
and Maude Palmerton.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, 9535 Clarence
Center Road, Clarence Center.
Jerry F. Papaleo
Jerry F. Papaleo, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012
at his home in Deposit which he shared with his daughter JoAnn.
He is survived by his daughter: JoAnn Papaleo of Deposit; by
a sister: Beatrice Yovanni of Bronx, NY; by a brother: Louis Papaleo of Long Island, NY; and by many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was a US Army veteran of WWII serving in North Africa
and Italy. He received a Purple Heart for his combat wounds.
Jerry retired from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in Manhattan, NY
where he worked as an adjuster. He moved to Deposit seven years ago. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Deposit.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were through
the Zacharias Funeral Home in Deposit.
Floyd James Schmitz
Floyd James Schmitz, 62, of Sherman, PA died unexpectedly Saturday,
January 14, 2012 at his home.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley; his children: James (Sandra)
Schmitz, Farah Schmitz, and step-daughter: Melissa Randolph; brothers and sisters: Harold Schmitz, Charles Schmitz, Douglas
Schmitz, Helen Albee, Linda Slocum, Ruby Buchannan and Marie Kostak; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces
and nephews.
Floyd worked as a security guard for many years at Singer-Link
in Hillcrest, NY and later for Indian Country in Deposit.
A private Memorial Service for the family will be held at the Zacharias Funeral
Home in Deposit.
Julia N. Smith
Julia N. Smith, 86, of Starrucca, PA, passed away on Friday,
February 3, 2012, at home. She was born on October 13, 1925 in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of Edward and Sadie (Tarbox) Baker.
Julia married Robert E. Smith and he predeceased her on January 17, 2002. She was a member of the Bag Ladies in Starrucca,
PA, and the Sherman Bible Chapel in Deposit, NY.
Surviving are her children: Carol Terrell, Lakewood, PA, Shirley
Depew, Deposit, Linda Wilcha, Waymart, PA, LeRoy, Starrucca, PA, Nancy and husband Doug Fuller, Starlight, PA, and Jeff Smith.
She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Julia was predeceased by a daughter, Nina Bolinger, a granddaughter Penny Eldred, a great granddaughter, Amelia, and all of
her brothers and sisters.
There was one hour for calling on Monday, February 6 from 1-2
and a service followed all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Rev. Joseph Axtell officiated and interment
followed in the Hale Eddy Cemetery, Hale Eddy, NY.

George T. Theodorou
George T. Theodorou passed away peacefully on January 9, 2012
at Absolut at Endicott. He is predeceased by his parents: Tom and Stella; brother: Peter; and sister: Esther Pierce.
George is survived by his loving wife of 42 years: Eileen;
daughter: Melanie; grandson: Donovan, both of Raleigh, NC; brother: Frank Theodorou; and several cousins in New England and
Greece.
He loved sports, especially the NY Yankees and Giants.
A 1956 graduate of Deposit Central School, George was a superior
athlete having earned 16 varsity letters in high school, four each in football, basketball, baseball and track. In 1992 he
was elected to the Section 4 Athletic Hall of Fame. He played on the 1955 Deposit Champion Football team and the 1956 Champion
Baseball Team. He played on the Oneonta Amateur football team where he was known as the "Golden Greek" and "Galloping Greek".
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff

The family received friends at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137
Robinson St., Binghamton on Sunday, January 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. Trisagion (Prayer) Service was held at 6 p.m. Burial will

Tessie Umiejewski
Tessie Umiejewski, 91, of Deposit, NY and Venice, FL died January
11, 2012 at Venice Regional Medical Center.
Tess was born July 21, 1920 in Bronx, NY. She obtained her
BA in Education from Fordham University and her Master's Degree in Music from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
She moved from Newburgh, NY to Deposit in 1971. She was a music
teacher for Deposit Central Schools and also served as organist for St. Joseph's Church in Deposit. She was a member of Catholic
Daughters, Music Educator's National Conference, NYS School Music Association, and the Broome County Music Educator's Association.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January
19 at St. Joseph's Church in Deposit. Visitation will be held at the Zacharias Funeral Home, 78 Second St. in Deposit on Thursday
from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Deposit in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to St. Joseph's Church - Deposit
at 975 NY Route 11, Kirkwood, NY 13795.
Richard S. Walker
Richard S. Walker was born on December 16, 1925 in Rock Royal,
NY, the son of Clair and Mildred (Walley) Walker. He passed away January 29, 2012 at the NYS Veterans' Home in Oxford, NY.
He was a WWII Naval veteran. He spent many years farming in
Cannonsville, NY on the family farm and also owned a farm in Smithville Flats, NY with his brothers: William and Douglas.
Richard was a baseball fan and an excellent pitcher for his
hometown team in Cannonsville. He was a kind and gentle man, who enjoyed his family and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard is survived by his sister: Phyllis Payne of Waterville,
NY; and predeceased by three brothers and their spouses: Wayne and Evelyn (Lambrecht) Walker, of Sidney, NY, William and Lucy
(Brown) Walker of Deposit, NY, Douglas Walker of Winterdale, PA; and his brother-in-law: Bruce Payne of Waterville.
His family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at the
Oxford Veterans' Home for their wonderful care and compassion, especially his caregivers on the Oak Cottage Wing.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1 at the Zacharias Funeral
Home in Deposit with Rev. Kathy Myrick, pastor of the Maple Lane Assembly of God Church in Deposit officiating. An hour of
calling will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery in Walton,
NY at the convenience of the family.

Gladys "Sis" Wormuth
Gladys "Sis" Wormuth born to Kathryn and Fred Leonard, Sr.
on December 31, 1934 in Deposit, NY was rewarded for her unwavering faith in her Lord Jesus Christ on January 26, 2012 as
she was reunited with them in the kingdom of heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Virgil Wormuth
and their very special companion, Amber. Six children: Sandra Livingston of Canandaigua, NY., Shelly Stevens of Port Crane,
NY, Sherry and Bill Edwards of Oswego, NY, Steve Wormuth of Port Crane, NY, Sheila and John Robertson of Lake Park, GA, and
Stacey and Jim Hurley of Oswego, NY. Fourteen grandchildren: Matt (Jen) Lewis, Mark Lewis, Paul Livingston, Rick (Tammy) Stevens,
Susan (Rich) Caiati, Jesse (Doran) Stevens, Josh (Abby) Stevens, Sara (Anthony) Caiati, Billy Edwards, Anthony and Travis
Wormuth, Micayla Robertson, Brad VanGorder and Justin (BobbieRae) VanGorder. Her Sister, Joyce Helms and brother and sister-in-law
, Fred, Jr. and Diane Leonard. Her limitless love is also felt by her 18 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins,
and innumerable friends.
A memorial service in celebration of her life was given on
January 31, 2012 at the Community Baptist Church in Port Dickinson. Donations to the church in her memory are being accepted.
